Legendary Star & Animal Advocate, Mickey Rooney Passes Away At 93

It is with sadness we report that legendary Hollywood actor and human/animal rights activist, Mickey Rooney, passed away tonight at the age of 93.

He was a passionate activist for animals and a staunch supporter/active lobbyist against animal crush videos. Speaking out publicly for years against animal cruelty, Mickey Rooney supported Congressman Elton Gallegly’s and Stopcrush.org’s determination to see animal crush video outlawed. He spoke out on behalf of legal efforts that would become law (Animal Crush Prohibition Act) in 2010.

Joining the campaign to end crush videos, Mr Rooney stated during a 1999 Press Conference held in Los Angeles with Congressman Elton Gallegly,
“Put a stop, won’t you, to crush videos,” Rooney implored. “What are we gonna hand our children? This is what we’re gonna hand down, these videos, crush videos? God forbid.”

Congressman Gallegly affectionately stated, “We all grew up with Mickey Rooney, we all had favorite roles that only he could have brought to life. One of my personal favorites was Andy Hardy. I had the personal honor of getting to know him as a real person and am grateful for all his help to combat animal cruelty. To say he was a legend is an understatement.”

We thank you Mr Rooney for your staunch and unwavering support over the many years to end animal cruelty. We will miss you Mr Rooney; your wit, your compassion, your amazing talent and your strong voice for integrity and justice.

Our deepest condolences to Mr Rooney’s loved ones.
