Irwin Tieng is proposing a bill that would criminalize the sale of animal crush videos and other filmed acts of animal cruelty in the Philippines.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">House Bill 4595, prohibits Filipinos from &#8220;knowingly selling, marketing, advertising, exchanging or distributing&#8221; the videos, which Rep. Tieng publicly denounces as &#8220;an extreme form of animal cruelty.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8220;It is hard to believe that this sort of thing even exists, and that a law is needed to prevent it. Animal torture is outrageously disturbing. Common decency and morality dictates that those engaged in it should not be profiting from it; they should be imprisoned,&#8221; ~ Rep. Tieng<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">If passed, violators will be penalized with imprisonment of 3 to 7 years and\/or a fine of P100,000 to P300,000.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Rep. Tieng continued, &#8220;While this torture of defenseless animals is in itself despicable, numerous studies also show cruelty to animals is often the first step leading to violence against people. This law is one step toward ending this cycle of violence.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Some individuals in different nations, payed on-line, as much as $1,000 to watch videos of underage Philippine girls torturing and killing animals. For those who do not realize, the interest in animal crush video, is for the sexual gratification of the viewer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The Animal Welfare Coalition made a statement after discovering that certain animal crush videos were being made in the Philippines. The group said clients were able to choose what type of animals they want to kill &#8212; from puppies, kittens and bunnies to frogs, mice and snakes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The girls, upon their clients&#8217; request, then crush the animals under their high heels or by sitting on them. Others removed their ears or skin them alive.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8220;Many animal crush videos are obscene in the sense that the depictions, taken as a whole, appeal to the prurient interest in sex, are patently offensive, and lack serious literary, artistic, political or scientific value.
